SPAM® Arroz Caldo

It goes without saying that SPAM® Arroz Caldo is tasty. But it also always takes us back. Rainy Monday mornings. School’s cancelled. Lola Baby sneaks into your room and gently wakes you up with a piping hot bowl of rice porridge and love. Good times.


  • 15ml cooking oil
  • 1 can SPAM® Garlic , diced (1mm x 1mm)
  • 3g minced garlic
  • 1 pc onion, sliced
  • 3g grated ginger
  • 175g short rice grains
  • 1.4L chicken stock
  • 15ml fish sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Toppings:
  • Hardboiled egg, sliced
  • Toasted garlic
  • Chopped spring onion
  • Calamansi


  1. Heat oil and sauté diced SPAM® Garlic, set aside.
  2. Sauté garlic, onion and ginger.
  3. Add rice and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add chicken stock and fish sauce.
  5. Let boil for 5 minutes.
  6. Lower fire to simmer while mixing occasionally until rice has softened and desired consistency of porridge is achieved.
  7. Add back sautéed and diced SPAM® Garlic for 10 minutes before turning off fire.
  8. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  9. Transfer to bowls and garnish with toppings, serve.
