Everybody was Kung Pao eating! Can’t blame them. This Chinese-American favorite has that sweet and spicy kick that hits you right in the tastebuds. In a good way.

Ingredients

  • 1 can SPAM® Hickory Smoke , cubed
  • 1 tbsp peanut oil
  • 3 pieces ginger slices
  • 8-10 pieces dried chili
  • 1/3 cup green and red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 cup leeks, sliced
  • 2 tbsp peanuts, skinless
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Sichuan peppercorn, optional
  • For Kung Pao Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp xiaoxing or rice wine
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

Directions

  • 1.
    FOR SAUCE
    • Mix all ingredients together and set aside.

    FOR KUNG PAO
    • Heat peanut oil.
    • Stir fry ginger, chili, bell pepper, and leeks.
    • Add cubed SPAM® Hickory Smoke and peanuts.
    • Toss in sesame oil and Sichuan peppercorn.
    • Add sauce and continue mixing until sauce coats the SPAM® Hickory Smoke and vegetables.
    • Turn off fire and serve with white rice.
