  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 slices SPAM® Classic 1/4 in. slices
  • 1/2 cup cooked Japanese rice
  • 1/4 cup coconut meat strips, breaded and fried
  • 2 pc crab sticks
  • 1 (30 g) pc carrot, peeled and sliced into julienne*
  • 1 pc nori sheet, cut in half
  • 1 pc beaten egg
  • 1/4 cup Japanese breadcrumbs


  • 1.In a pan, combine first four ingredients. Simmer until thickened. Finish with butter. Set aside.
  • 2.Using the upper part of the can as a mold, insert 1 slice of SPAM®, half of carrots, coconut, and crab sticks and layer with remaining ingredients in previous order.
  • 3.Unmold and cover all sides tightly with nori.
  • 4.Dip in egg and coat with bread crumbs. Deep-fry until golden brown. Slice into 6 and serve with sauce.
